Living Chola Temples & Madurai

This itinerary takes you specifically through the architectural wonders of the ancient dynasties who ruled Tamilnadu, mainly, the Cholas, Pandyas & Pallavas. These temples are of Dravidian style and are still attracted by pilgrims and tourists from all over the world.

Day 1: Arrival Chennai. Overnight Chennai

Day 2: Morning sightseeing of Mahabalipuram, 6th & 7th century stone carvings

and shore temple. Afternoon drive to Pondicherry. Overnight Pondicherry

Day 3: After early breakfast, drive to Gangaikonda Cholapuram (2 1/2 hours) –

the architectural wonder of Chola dynasty. After sightseeing the temple,

continue drive to Swamimalai (45 mins). Evening at leisure.

Day 4: Visit the bronze making factory, Dharasuram temple and continue drive

to Tanjore . Evening visit the magnificent Big Temple, a marvel of Chola

dynasty and the Palace. Overnight Tanjore

Day 5: Drive to Madurai (3 ½ hours). Evening visit the spectacular Sri Meenakshi

Temple built by the Pandya dynasty. Overnight Madurai

Day 6: Morning visit the flower market and time for shopping. Evening departure.
